The 2016 Presidential Election perhaps did more harm than good for Hillary Clinton. Before the campaign, few knew about her questionable behavior.
Few people knew about her illegal email server set up during her tenure as secretary of state. Even fewer would be able to talk about the FBI investigation into the matter. The election put a spotlight on her failures during the Obama administration, like the chaos erupting in the Middle East and the Benghazi slayings.
But perhaps the worst for her was the revelation that she was using both the State Department and the Clinton Global Initiative to funnel cash into her pocket. This branch of the Clinton Foundation was taking money from foreign powers and businesses, who soon got face time with the State Department. Many of these “donors” would eventually get favors from the U.S. government, like the arms deal given to Saudi Arabia.
Now that the election is over and Hillary will never be the President of the United States, the CBI just isn’t needed anymore. So it’s getting put down.

The Clinton Foundation announced it’s laying off 22 staffers on the Clinton Global Initiative, keeping with a plan to deal with the negative spotlight put on the organization during former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
The layoffs will take effect April 15, the Clinton Foundation said in a filing with the New York Department of Labor Thursday, citing the discontinuation of the Clinton Global Initiative. The move is part of a plan put in motion ahead of the presidential election in order to offset a storm of criticism regarding pay-to-play allegations during Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state.
While the FBI concluded its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server while secretary of state, a second investigation into the Clinton Foundation regarding allegations of corruption during that same tenure is ongoing.
It’s clear what’s going on. Now that Clinton no longer has a position of influence to barter with, foreign powers no longer want her. They can’t buy and sell favors from the American government through her, so she no longer needs this program to exist. Keeping it active would only bring more scrutiny from the government, which is still investigating past behavior.
Perhaps by laying off staff and closing the program, the Clinton Foundation hopes to destroy any evidence relevant to the investigation. At the very least, it will make tracking down staff for testimony a little bit harder.
Either way it’s another domino to fall for the Clinton empire.
